Cooperation with BSTU, Belarus

The cooperation with Brest State Technical University (BSTU) in Brest, Belarus, which goes back to the year 1990, is one of our university’s longest-running partnerships. In 2005, Professor Dr. Pjotr Pojta, rector of BSTU, was appointed Honorary Senator of our university. This cooperation is embedded in the very active town twinning between the municipalities association “Mittleres Schussental” (which includes Ravensburg and Weingarten) on the one hand, and Brest on the other hand, and can thus obtain valuable support in terms of human and financial, but also non-material resources. The DAAD supports the partnership with BSTU in the framework of its Ostpartnerschaften program.

Almost every year, study trips are organised in both directions allowing students to attend lectures and intensive Russian or German language courses, go on excursions and visit companies, thus becoming acquainted with the partner university and the host country.
Moreover, short-term scholarships are available for students from Brest who join the project on “Steering and braking systems for autonomous vehicles in service and production applications” (Prof. Stetter, Prof. Paczynski).
