Studying in Weingarten

Studying in Weingarten

Living in Weingarten, in the centre of Oberschwaben, is synonymous with a lot of fun apart from studying. Snowboarding in the nearby Alps or mountain biking through the Swabian forests - leisure time is highly attractive in Weingarten. With a car or by train, you reach Lake Constance in 30 minutes, and Switzerland is also just around the corner.

Weingarten offers quite some advantages as a place of study. The University of Applied Sciences with around 3000 students is not over-crowded and allows for personal contact between students and professors. There are no lecture halls packed with students and mass events, but a pleasant learning atmosphere.

A lively students' community at the University of Applied Sciences, the University of Education and the University of Cooperative Education in neighboring Ravensburg has put their stamp on both towns. During the week, you can meet your friends for a beer in the student pubs, "Hoki" or "alibi", or go to one of the many student parties in Weingarten or Ravensburg. If that is not sufficient you can go on a tour through all the pubs in the historic city centre of Ravensburg. You will find anything from a traditional Irish pub and alternative cafés to very elegant cocktail bars.

If you are interested in culture, the Baroque basilica hosts concerts regularly. It is the largest Baroque church in the northern part of the Alpine region. The theatre and the concert hall in Ravensburg offer quite a variety of programmes. Moreover, the sophisticated films, satirical revues and cabaret are put on at the "Linse" in Weingarten.
